Excellence is a journey, not a destination.

Have you caught your vision yet? If not, that’s ok. The fact that you are even thinking about pursuing a vision for your life is the important part. Deciding exactly what that vision is may not come right away, but rather it might be a discovery process that unfolds over time.

At the heart of your desire for pursuing this vision is a desire for excellence. The challenge with excellence, and the reason I believe that many people settle for mediocrity, is the fact that it’s a journey, not a destination. There is not a point in time when you “arrive” and become excellent. Instead, when you make the conscious decision to pursue excellence, you must realize that you are embarking on a lifelong journey to continually improve, learn, and grow. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

This journey is not for everyone. But that’s good news for those of you who choose excellence…you will stand out from the crowd because you hold yourself to a higher standard, and you desire more out of life. Are you ready to begin the journey? I hope so.
